Faculty Bio
Dr. Daniel Rooks received a master's degree in Exercise Physiology from University of Michigan and a Doctor of Science degree in Applied Anatomy and Physiology from Boston University. He was an NIH postdoctoral fellow in the Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory at Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is the recipient of an Arthritis Investigator Award from the Arthritis Foundation and Patient-Centered Research Career Development Award from NIH.
His research centers on the application of exercise, education, and behavioral interventions in chronic disease self-management. His current work compares the effects of different exercise and education interventions on the management of fibromyalgia, examines the effects of presurgical exercise on total joint replacement surgery and determines the effects of presurgical and post surgical exercise protocols on weight loss surgery.
